About Me

Growing up in Northern New Jersey suburbs of New York City I was blessed to be exposed to a great abundance of art, architecture, and culture. While other kids played video games, my brother and I stayed entertained building Japanese miniature military models. I had the opportunity to work for a wooden boat builder when I was a teenager which opened up my eyes to the world of craftsmanship and the beauty and complexity of working in wood.

In college, passion and concern for the environment led me to pursue a job in the alternative energy field. After two years working for a solar company, electric car company, and for the Department of Energy, an itch to be more creative and hands-on steered me towards the preservation carpentry program at the North Bennet Street School in Boston. There, I have immersed myself in architecture, traditional and contemporary carpentry methods, design, and history. I aspire to practice approaches to building that emphasize quality, longevity, good design, and responsible material use. Nature and those before us have established beautiful and practical forms and I am inspired by classical architecture from Europe, Asia, and indigenous people around the world. I think that architecture and building is an extension of humanity and believe that good design has a positive influence on the human experience.

Hopefully one day I will be able to build my own home and perhaps own my own business. I like to be outdoors, to travel, and am a tinkerer of all sorts.
