One of the petty annoyances of living in a rental house is dealing with the loads of mail that arrives everyday. The mail enters through the slot in the front door and piles up on the floor forming a particularly unwelcome welcome mat. Using some scrap pine and poplar from our school shop, I decided I could build a box to capture the mail as it falls through the slot. I improvised the molding using my router and a few other tools to match the neoclassical trim elements around the door and entryway. I am happy with the results, best of all, no more mail on the floor!
